About Virus Respiratorio Sincitial (VRS)
VRS (from the Spanish Virus Respiratorio Sincitial) is a BOINC-based project which main aim is to simulate the behaviour of the human Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). Main facts:
•It is the major cause of lower respiratory tract infection and hospital visits during infancy and childhood.
•In Spain, it causes more than 15.000 padiatrician visits per year. It is responsible for more than 18% of the pneumonia elderly hospitalizations.
•In the United States, 60% of infants are infected during their first RSV season. Nearly all children will have been infected with the virus by 2-3 years of age. Of those infected with RSV, 23% will develop bronchiolitis necessitating hospitalization.
Our project simulations of the RSV contagion mechanisms will allow:
•Better understanding of the contagion evolution and its relevant parameters.
•Faster predictions of the virus population evolution.
•Designing more accurate vaccination campaigns.
I've been running this for a couple days now and getting steady work, but there is a limit of one WU/core...

Seems to work nicely so far. :)

A few things to consider:
It uses quite a lot of RAM (up to 500MB per core).
It has a limit of either max 8 WU's per computer or 1 WU per core (not sure which).
It has quorum of 1 and happily accepts requested credits, so I guess it's a matter of time before the cheaters arrive.

Those are all typical "new project" stuff, so I'm pretty sure those things will be adressed soon. :)

Edit: If I had read the original post properly, I would have seen that it's one WU per core.

It was down for a bit today, but they announced it on the main page and got it back up within a couple hours. On the plus side, I have yet to have a WU error out...

Our main milestone has been reached. The 140000 WU we started with, have been sent so there is no more work left. Once we receive the results still pending, will spend the next few weeks analysing the data. Stay tuned for incoming work in September

I guess there won't be any more work until sometime Sept.
